Forms and Functions. Which Came First?

My Environmental Design lecturer, Mr. Zul has given us a task to do. So let's get started!

Form follows Function or Function follows form. Which should be followed? In this twisted world we call Earth, these two phrases can be really flexible in just about anything! According to Wikipedia, form follows function is a principle associated with modern architecture and industrial design in the 20th century. The principle is that the shape of a building or object should be primarily based upon its intended function or purpose. To put things in a simple explanation, when you look at an object, for example, your average cellphone, you brain immediately knows what it really does. Another example would be buildings. For instance, when you see a building, you can immediately identify their work ethics.

When in comes to function follows form, it means the function revolves on the form instead of the other way around. For instance, the ipod Shuffle.

This product is a mere cuboid shaped mp3 player but of course we know this. If this product didn't have enough media coverage and promotion, how are we suppose to know the function? There's isn't a button in sight.

In conclusion, both phrase are a strong debate but I prefer Form follows function

Creating a Bisou Bus Stop!

Voila! :D

About Bisou

Bisou Bake Shop opened her doors in June, 2007 on Heritage Row, Kuala Lumpur. We became well known for the best tasting cupcakes in KL and from our first little shop, we have moved to Bangsar Village and opened our second store in KLCC.

At Bisou Bake Shop we put a sophisticated swirl on a nostalgic favourites. Sporting a selection of homestyle cupcakes, cakes and cookies, there is something to suit every palate. With 13 cupcake flavours everyday and an additional “Cupcake of the Month”, cupcake lovers are spoilt for choice. And for those who would perhaps prefer a bigger piece of cake, we have a fabulous selection that includes our very famous Banoffee Pie and a Real Black Forest Gateau.

Bisou Bake Shop is pretty in its decor, primarily white with dark chocolate and pink accents that echo the rich chocolate in the cakes we serve. At our bake shop, making cakes is an art, and the evidence is in the delectable frosting piled high on each freshly baked cupcake.

The real beauty of Bisou Bake Shop BV is that it's not just about cupcakes. Our menu here consists not only of cakes but also healthy salads, daily soups, freshly cut sandwiches made from homemade bread. Diners can savour a comforting meal then top it off with Bisou's signature cupcakes and desserts.

I was on DeviantArt and stumbled upon this amazing artist.

Her name in DA is Lora Zombie but I'm not sure that's her real name. I'm pretty sure it is.

These are just some of the amazing artworks!

Bottles Being Outside The Box!

Me, being a unique human being, likes bottles.. a lot! Not in way a freaky way that is. It's just that I feel like we should make a change in the design. Oh and another thing, I like bottle shapes. When I was a kid, I use to collect many bottles and create huge forts and stick em' together. I also imagined em to be rockets or missiles. And yes, I threw them all over the place. What a waste :(

Recycle is a fine art :)

So anyways, I want to talk about it's design and shape.

Through the time, the designs and shapes have changed.

The last one will make a perfect wall for a fort! :O Anyways, I conclude that Design is an Evolution

This is a typography video. It is from the controversial film titled 'V for Vendetta.' Typography is the art and technique of arranging type, type design, and modifying type glyphs.

One of the many arts I love the most is definitely typography. Although I totally failed in my assignment for typography for my first semester, I promise I'll try my best, next time! :D

Do It Yourself!

As I walked around Wangsa Walk of Wangsa Maju, I stumbled upon this cute concept store. It is a gift shop selling crafts, handmade cards, door Gift, wrappings, soft toys and much more! This store interests me because of it's uniqueness. What I like most about the store is the handmade crafts and it's concept on DIY (Do It Yourself).

Yes, instead of buying a handmade card, you can actually do your card. It's so cool! But you can do so much more than just cards, of course. This store provides many cute accessories for you.

This is an example of the handmade birthday card they sell in the store.
Cute, right?!

The design of the store is nice and very organized which makes it easier for the customers to look around. So yeah, this you can find this gift shop in Wangsa Walk Mall, Wangsa Maju. You can't miss it. :)
